Travel Reimbursement Form
US based invited speakers and program committee members may request reimbursement of up to $1,000 for hotel and transportation expenses (air fare, train, mileage, transportation to and from airport). Internatoinally based invited speakers may request reimbursement of up to $1500. Details and rules are provided on the reimbursement form. Please submit your travel reimbursement form with receipts to Renee Woodland at ASM Headquarters (address on form).
ASM will register all session moderators and speakers at the meeting. However, moderators and speakers should contact the meeting hotel directly to establish room reservations for their planned stay in Baltimore.
If you are an invited faculty member for the ASM Biodefense and Emerging Diseases Research Meeting, please read the following information carefully as it contains guidelines for your presentation that you will be held accountable for:
Speaker Presentations
Each room used for presentations will be equiped with a PC computer (which will have the latest version of PowerPoint installed) connected to an LCD projector. Invited speakers are requested to bring their PowerPoint presentations on a "thumb drive" or CD-ROM to the session room immediately before their session and upload the presentation to the computer. Be sure to transfer all audio or video files to the computer or they will not run properly. Further technical instructions will be posted to this page by February 11.
Evidence-Based, Non-Commercial Presentations
ASM requires that all presentations be evidence-based and by themselves or in conjunction with other presentations, give a balanced view of therapeutic options. Commercial logos or watermarks are not permitted on slides and when unlabeled or investigational uses of a drug or device are discussed, they must be labeled/identified as such in your presentation.
The use of generic names contributes to impartiality. If trade names are used in your presentation, you must also use the trade names of other companies’ products as well.
Disclosure of Relevant Financial Relationships and Unlabeled/Unapproved Uses of Drugs or Devices
As a provider accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the ASM requires that all faculty members participating in continuing education activities sponsored by ASM disclose any relevant financial relationships related to the content of their presentation(s), as well as any off-label uses of a drug/device. These disclosures will be provided to attendees in the Final Program. The intent of this policy is not to prevent a speaker with significant financial interest or other relationship from making a presentation, but rather to provide participants with information on which they can base their own judgments. It remains for the audience to determine if the speaker’s interests or relationships may influence the presentation with regard to exposition or conclusion.
These disclosures are to be completed online and ASM staff will provide you with a link where you may enter your disclosure as part of the invitation process. If you have questions regarding disclosure, please contact Bianca Blanks.
Speakers that do not complete their disclosure information will be removed from the program.
